DIY on 5 Wheels
Dec 7, 2017, 20:44 PM
You've heard of DIY tiny homes, but have you heard of DIY campers on wheels? Christina Dennis, the talent behind The DIY Mommy, highlighted one of her most memorable moments of 2017 on her blog - and it just happened to be a home-away-from-home on wheels!
Join Christina and her husband Sean at the Edmonton Renovation Show, January 26-28, 2018. But first, get the inside scoop on this fabulous five wheel makeover!
Christina and her family purchased a 1993 Vanguard Fifth Wheel off of Kijiji for $1000 as a means for her family to go camping with. “We decided to renovate our camper because we wanted to go camping with our kids and an RV, but didn’t want to spend a large amount on a new trailer,” explains Christina. With tiny houses and all things DIY becoming commonplace, renovating RV’s and trailers have gained momentum on other blogs and YouTube channels, and Christina wanted to not only document her experience, but use her DIY abilities to customize and completely renovate something to be her own. Check out her top tips below.
DIY Tips and Tricks for Renovating Your Camper
1. Paint
Though tedious and time consuming, Christina attests to its importance. “I couldn’t believe what a difference a fresh coat of paint made to the interior of the space."
2. Light Fixtures
Use lighting to your advantage. It can become a feature piece as well as a quick way to modernize and upgrade the camper.
3. Textiles & Colour
Use throw pillows, peel-and-stick tiles and flooring to add texture, colour and boho style to warm up your space.
Get more DIY decor tips when you see Christina and her husband Sean at the Edmonton Renovation Show January 26-28, 2018 at the Edmonton Expo Centre. They will be discussing their step-by-step camper renovation process (including the mechanical and structural side of the renovation), the products they used, and tell you what to splurge (or save) on!
